Key Construction Indictators released

The Department of Building and Housing has released the Key Indicators for the Construction Industry. These indicators report on dwelling consents, GDP, employment and other indicators of change which affect the construction sector. To view the full report go to http://www.dbh.govt.nz/key-indicator-reports.
These reports include retrospective data, some short-term forecasts, and a commentary that ties everything together in a cohesive summary.
Each report brings together information from a range of sources, such as Statistics New Zealand, Quotable Value, and the Department’s own internal sources, to give a comprehensive picture.

Announcement of the new Chairman of the Board for Certified Builders Assn of NZ

I am pleased to advise that at the CBANZ Board meeting yesterday the Board (under the terms of CBANZ Constitution section 12.7) elected David Brown as the new Chairman of the Board for the next 2 years. David has been a Member of Certified Builders for over 12 years and a Board Member for the past 5 years. Dave is a Partner in Taylor and Brown Builders Limited in Auckland and has served as President of the Auckland Association in the past.
David will take up is his new role at the completion of this year’s Annual General Meeting of CBANZ due to be held on 19th May 2012 at which the current Chairman Allan Shaw’s resignation will become effective. As you will be aware Allan has held the position of Chairman over the past 3 years and has previously advised his intention to stand down at the end of this year’s AGM.
We wish Dave all the best in his new role and take the opportunity to thank Allan for his valuable and sterling efforts over the past 3 years.

Restricted Building Work Seminars – A HUGE success

Certified Builders along with the DBH & Winstone Wallboards have been running Nation wide Restricted Building Work Seminars.
The attendance by builders has been phenomenal.
The whole of the South Island has been covered already with some centres attracting as many as 150+ builders attending the seminars. To date there have been over 800+ builders attend the sessions in the South Island.
The Restricted Building Work Seminars are now traveling around the North Island, with Dion Tapper and the team at Palmerston North on Monday night.
