Commerce Commission to prosecute over concrete building panels

Several people who allegedly represented a Chinese-made concrete product as though it was a high quality German brand will be prosecuted.

The lightweight product was one of a range of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) panels imported and distributed by the Dunedin CFG Group between 2007 and 2013. A Stuff investigation earlier this year found it had failed in some important buildings and may have been used widely in New Zealand.

A Commerce Commission spokesman confirmed a decision had been made to prosecute people in relation to the alleged misrepresentations, making it clear they were going after individuals and not companies.
