Fighting Cancer – Charity Boxing Match
The Bay of Islands Certified Builders Association is holding a Charity Boxing Match at the Turner Centre in Kerikeri on September 22nd.
Profits from the ‘Fighting Cancer Night’ will go to the Pink and Steel Pilates Trust and will be used to provide treatment for patients recovering from cancer surgery. The treatment, which combines Physiotherapy, a customised exercise program and massage, is designed to help patients improve their mobility and general well being so that they can resume normal life more quickly. All the money raised will be used to treat patients in the Northland area and anyone can apply for free treatment. Click here for more info on the Pink and Steel Pilates Trust.
Interest in the event has been high but Certified Builders Association Bay of Islands Region President Bevin MacCarthy says they still need a few more boxers.
“There are lots of people who are keen to be involved but we have to match build of the boxers carefully”.
He says there can only be a maximum of 5 kilos each between the boxers in a bout and that consideration also has to be given to how much experience participants have. Each bout consists of three, 2 minute rounds and is judged by a panel of experienced judges from the NZ Boxing Association.
